Pre mortem template is useful for offsites and planning sessions.
Got a group who don’t like to think strategically, but prefer to stay “in the weeds”? Or a group who value harmony and so won’t bring up issues and possible problems for fear of being impolite, un-popular or perceived as troublemakers?
Here’s what I’ve been using for a while, it really works well in planning and strategising. Pre Mortems outlines the process.
And here’s a template I made for it: pre-mortem template
It means naysayers, devil’s advocates and mismatchers get to be normalised (and that’s an interesting experience for them too). It’s one of my favourite offsite strategy day activities.
