Teaching rats to drive

I have recently become a big advocate of Audiobooks. It’s a natural progression from the podcasts I “discovered” around 2016, I guess.

I’m revisiting my favourite fictional worlds: the best of John Irving, Ann Patchett and for levity Marian Keyes.

Every now and then Audible serves me something for free at the end of a book, when i don’t have hands free to choose it. this one really hit a chord with me as I watch my clients and friends battle with being TOO comfortable.

Dr Kelly Lambert, a neurological researcher talks about “trust fund” rats in the lab who have everything provided and are unhappy, vs the ones with enriched environments, who were happier and grew new neurons.

The book I’m listening to Sculpting Healthy Brains with Everyday Activities is only on audible I think – it’s a series of lectures, but I was pleased to find this TED talk which covers a bit of it. There are other playlists of her talks as well.

Go learn the secrets of happiness, while learning from rats who can drive!
