Here at Political acumen we are constantly reminding people that their boss matters, so it may seem counter intuitive to suggest that you need to read Fire your boss.
But I agree with it wholeheartedly. The crux of it is this paragraph

(Insert boss’s name), you are no longer responsible for my future.
You no longer have the verdict on the value of my workplace contribution.
You are not responsible for inspiring me or motivating me.
You’re fired”
