Vulnerability is an important skill for leaders. It corresponds in some people’s eyes to Authenticity (from Why Should Anyone be Led by You), it’s about courage and it’s about being real.
Brene Brown is famous for her (well-researched) stance on vulnerability and courage. Her first talk, here, had more than 4 million hits within weeks.
Then she did this one where she talked about how ashamed she was about the first talk, but also to push the message (“vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change”).
That was way back in 2012. (If you’re low on time, just watch/listen to this one).
She has written dozens of books and hosts a regular podcast which I tune into on occasion (who has time to do everything?).
She is all over youtube, because she has “disciples”. This one just popped up in my feed: How Smart People handle Toxic People. And there’s a playlist of someone’s best picks of Brene’s work here.
