Essential ideas for presenting

Came across this Presenters Manifesto today on slideshare.

Some essentials of presentation beautifully put together.

And there’s no sound, so those of you who don’t have video at work can look at it easily!

And these simple tips from Alan Alda’s initiatives for better Science communication are very useful. In essence they are to always speak in threes:

  • Make no more than 3 points
  • Explain difficult ideas in 3 different ways
  • Make important points 3 times.

There’s beautifully produced video there to make these points 3 different ways, and the important thing here is that people don’t get it the first time. So now I’ve said it 3 times you can maybe think about it a little more?

As always, happy to hear what you think. And how you’re doing with your presentations (even in meetings you may have noticed a change by now, and are ready to tell me)!
