People want to be around people who make them feel good. What does that mean in business?

Laugh!

Laughter relaxes the whole body, boosts the immune system, triggers the release of feel-good endorphins and protects the heart. It’s that easy.

Those with political acumen laugh with people, not at them. Check your environment before telling any joke which singles out an ethnic minority, sexual preference or group (no gay, blonde, Irish, Jewish or Catholic jokes, for example).

Believe me, there is plenty more to laugh at. And consider laughter yoga, where you force yourself to laugh, and get the workout benefits.

Smiling has quite a few benefits too: in fact, recent research shows just holding a chop stick or a pen between your teeth (not your lips) for a period gives you the same benefits as smiling, and makes you more creative. So laugh. Or fake a smile. Weirdly enough, you’ll feel better for it. And it’ll help you at work.
