The Economics of Trauma

Around 23 minutes into this No Stupid Questions podcast they discuss the economics of trauma

It’s an interesting question – what are the knock on effects due to trauma – the Boston marathon bombing, violent crimes, bank robberies, natural disasters. What does it cost not only the individual but the organisations in terms of absenteeism, quality of thinking and working. (If we knew more about this would we make a different effort from other places to assist the victims and survivors?)

Useful advice when we are going through trauma, even small overwhelm trauma:

Notice.

Sit with it (don’t pour a drink, don’t eat something, just sit)

Put it into perspective.
