We’re all in so many more virtual meetings now than we used to be before Covid-19.
This podcast from Amantha Imber at Inventium offers three ways to avoid virtual meeting fatigue.
The short summary is this
- Consider making 30 minutes your standard meeting time
- Ask different questions at the top: not just “how are you” but more interesting questions like asking about the unexpected advantage of covid, something you’re proud of recently, something you’re looking forward to (try asking a version of any of the 36 questions for increasing closeness, i think, that would work nicely).
- Consider telephone not video for some meetings – Adam Grant’s research at Wharton indicates that by cutting out the visuals we pay more attention to the verbal.
